Govt. Motilal Vigyan Mahavidyalaya (MVM) Bhopal situated on the southern banks of the lower lake is one of the prestigious and premier institutions in the capital city of Madhya Pradesh. The institution came into existence after a faculty based segregation from Hamidia College, which was at that time, in 1956, the only government institution for higher learning. The institution is honored to be named after the renowned advocate, statesman and freedom fighter late Shri Motilal Nehru. A single faculty science institution committed and dedicated to teaching, learning and research, this esteemed institution was inaugurated by the most admired and first Prime Minister of India Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru on 7th November, 1960 with Dr. M.S. Rao as its first Principal. The institution was then headed and guided by a galaxy of eminent educationists in the subsequent years.
